Adult First Aid Courses
Within the UK over 100,000 people a year are injured or suffer an illness while at work. For educational establishments this covers teaching and non-teaching staff and contractors or other visitors on the premises. Schools also have to consider their obligations to their pupils as directed by the HSE and OFSTED.
The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require all employers to make arrangements to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. This includes appointing a suitable number of first aiders and providing appropriate first aid training.
Employers may carry out a risk assessment to determine what they will need to provide in order to comply with their legal obligations and to provide evidence of their duty of care. Appointing First Aiders are an integral part of workplace safety.
Currently we are offering four types of First Aid qualification, but if there is something specific that you require, please do not hesitate to get in contact us. All of the courses are run to the regulations set by the relevant bodies such as HSE or OFSTED. The course fee includes an up-to-date text book and certificate on successful completion of the training and assessments. Specific joining instructions will be sent out when we receive the completed booking form.

GENERAL INFORMATION
For all first aid courses, a good standard of spoken English is required. All the courses will involve practical sessions as well as theory and all participants must be able to demonstrate certain aspects of first aid. If a learner/delegate has an injury or condition that may prevent them from actively taking part in a course they may be asked to leave or join another course. This is subject to the trainer/manager’s discretion, with Woodlands Adventure & Outdoor Learning reserving the right to ask a person to leave a course (although every effort will be made to accommodate all learners/delegates) at any point.
All participants of a course should also be mindful of what clothing to wear as certain items may be seen as unsuitable for attending a course. Practical sessions will often involve lying on the floor and/or one participant physically having to touch another participant (though all contact will be professional and appropriate and in-line with industry training standards).
With the HSE approved courses (FAW, EFAW, RFAW and PFA) a good standard of English literacy is also required, although those who require additional support due to Dyslexia or other learning difficulties will be accommodated as far/as reasonably possible. Woodlands Adventure and Outdoor Learning reserve the right to ask a person to leave a course if they are unable to complete set tasks, though every effort will be made to accommodate all learners/delegates.
Tea and coffee will be provided but learners are asked to bring lunch. Ideally, we ask course participants to arrive around 08:45 for a prompt 9 am start. Anyone arriving more than 30 minutes late to the course (on any day) may not be allowed to continue. This is at the trainer/manager’s discretion. All delegates will be required to attend the full length of the course.
