Woodlands Adventure outdoor activity centre team

Our instructors hold enhanced DBS and child protection certificates and are qualified first aiders, as well as having many other professional qualifications from National Governing Bodies.

The pictures below show members of our permanent team, but you may see other seasonal instructors during the summer months.

Craig. Centre Manager

Craig came into the industry in 2005 after graduating university. he began his career working for a water-sports charity, working with disabled and disadvantaged members of the community. Craig has worked in various roles within this industry and holds a number of outdoor and education qualifications in a range of activities. Craig has a specialism in first-aid and a passion for tinkering with powerboats.

Greg. Activity Manager

Greg came to Woodlands in 2010 and, approximately 6 years ago, was promoted to Senior Instructor and became our Activities Manager in June 2017.

Greg first became involved in the instruction of outdoor activities in 1998 with 3D Education, before moving around Europe, instructing with Center Parcs. Greg has a strong interest in mountain biking.

Lynne. Office Manager

Lynne is the Office Manager at Woodlands Adventure.  She has been here for 10 years and is involved in every aspect of the business.

Previously working in the retail and motor trade sectors. Lynne has considerable knowledge and experience of business administration gained over the past 22 years and holds a diploma in Leadership and Management.

Key. Senior Instructor

Key has undertaken youth work since 1992. He has been a Duke of Edinburgh Award. Assessor for bronze and silver and has a Basic Expedition Leader Award. He has also worked as a special needs youth officer.

Key started working at Woodlands Adventure on a work placement in 1999, achieving an NVQ in outdoor activities. He is currently head of paddle sports with a level 3 in canoeing.

Key has paddled in the UK, France, USA and India. He has also climbed in France, Spain and Italy and has a Climbing Wall Award with an Abseil module, from the British Mountaineering Council He is currently working towards a Single Pitch Award and a Mountain Leader Award.

Peter. Senior Instructor

Peter’s journey in the outdoors, began with paddling when he was nine years old and he has since grown to and love all aspects of the outdoor industry.

During his career, Peter has been fortunate enough to work all over France and Britain, in various coaching and instructing roles.

Peter’s 16 years as an activities instructor has recently lead to him specialising in outdoor activities with SEN groups, which he looks forward to continuing whilst working at Woodlands Adventure and Outdoor Learning in his senior instructor role.

Amy. Senior Instructor

Amy came to Woodlands in 2019 achieving Archery GB and Paddle Instructor Awards and Climbing Wall and Bushcraft training, 

She enjoys kayaking, climbing and travelling in her camper van and is currently working towards a CWI and Paddlesport Leader Awards.

In September 2021 Amy has been promoted to Senior Instructor with office assisting duties. 

Stacey. Activity Instructor

Stacey has been involved in the outdoor industry as a seasonal instructor since 2014, alongside roles in the care sector. Stacey became a full time activity instructor in 2021 and is now currently working towards gaining her paddle sports instructor qualification.

Harry. Activity Instructor

Harry has been at Woodlands Adventure for 2 and a half years and has previously been a football coach for 2 years before joining Woodlands. He enjoys producing music and playing 5-a-side football. He is also currently training to be in the West Midlands Fire Service after completing fire cadets in 2017.

Josh. Activity Instructor

Josh has been instructing and working in the outdoor industry for nearly two years.

Before working in this industry, he had a job at kfc which resulted in him eating too much chicken.

Josh’s main interest is cycling, but he also enjoys other adventurous activities such as kayaking, climbing, canoeing and endurance events.

Mark, Activity Instructor

Mark has been in the outdoor activities industry since 2009 and qualified as an instructor in paddle sports in 2013. He has worked full time as an instructor at various centres since 2014, learning a range of other skills and other aspects of delivering fun and successful activities. He is currently working towards his climbing wall instructor qualifications.

Luke, Activity Instructor

Luke is fairly new to outdoor instructing, having previously started his training as a primary school teacher. In Luke’s free time he is a volunteer leader with a local uniformed service group and also an avid gamer. Luke always enjoys new challenges and  wants to develop his skills by specialising in paddle-sports as Luke’s career continues. ‘

Lisa, Activity Instructor

‘Lisa comes from a background of outdoor education and Forest School, gaining her qualification in 2021.

She is one of the newest members of the team and loves being outside in all weathers and creating experiences that everyone can enjoy.’

Kirsty, Activity Instructor

Kirsty has always enjoyed the outdoors, after experiencing many activity holidays as a child. When she was younger she was in the TA and received her marksmanship accreditation.

She enjoys walking, hill walking, canoeing, skiing, Adrenaline Sledging, Kayaking, wild camping, climbing, shooting, archery, orienteering and most outside activities.

As well as being a high level Swimming coach/instructor and national Swimmer, her claim to fame was taking part in the British judo Championships at 15.

Sue & Karen. Housekeeping

You may see members of our wonderful housekeeping team in the residential buildings during your stay.  Karen has worked at Woodlands Adventure for over 10 years and Sue joined the team just over 5 year’s ago.
