KWB cycles Manchester to London raising money for Woodlands Adventure

KWB Birmingham office agency, pedaled their way from both London and Manchester to Birmingham in aid of our activity centre, raising crucial monies. The event, which KWB aptly named ‘Bike on Track’, took place on May 8th and the money raised has been announced as £7,500.

Bike on Track is the first in a series of KWB-run fundraising events in aid of our charity, helping us to achieve our day-to-day goal of making the centre available and accessible to all children – offering unique opportunities to those with disabilities or special needs, as well as those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

One of the first sponsors, KWB suppliers, Parkinson Bailiff Services’ Mark Blagborough said: “Supporting a charitable fundraiser by one of our clients has a real sense of community about it. The way in which Woodlands Adventure ensures that all children have the chance to enjoy the centre – and all it has to offer – is truly admirable. This is a great opportunity to help.”

The total that KWB has achieved with their fundraising is already providing invaluable help to allow the centre to continue and further its work.

KWB Property Management Director, Mark Lenton, who sits on the board of trustees for Birmingham Boys & Girls Union, said: “The BBGU has always struggled for funding and, whilst the camp is owned, the costs of equipment renewal, maintaining facilities and employment particularly, are extremely high. As a result, the revenue stream does not always cover the costs.

“Having the most up-to-date safety equipment and a healthy sized team of well-trained staff is of the utmost importance to achieve what we set out to do with Woodlands Adventure. The BBGU is committed to maintaining its centre as ‘open to all’, catering for all requirements and needs, levelling the playing field to allow people of all abilities.”

KWB Director, John Bryce said: “We’re excited to have begun our fundraising efforts for Woodlands Adventure with a big event. We wanted to do something adventurous and outdoors, to echo some of the ideals that Woodlands Adventure embodies – we’re trying to practice what they preach.
