Woodlands Adventure outdoor activity centre team
Our instructors hold enhanced DBS and child protection certificates and are qualified first aiders, as well as having many other professional qualifications from National Governing Bodies.
The pictures below show members of our permanent team, but you may see other seasonal instructors during the summer months.
Craig. Centre Manager
Craig came into the industry in 2005 after graduating university. he began his career working for a water-sports charity, working with disabled and disadvantaged members of the community. Craig has worked in various roles within this industry and holds a number of outdoor and education qualifications in a range of activities. Craig has a specialism in first-aid and a passion for tinkering with powerboats.
Greg. Activity Manager
Greg came to Woodlands in 2010 and, approximately 6 years ago, was promoted to Senior Instructor and became our Activities Manager in June 2017.
Greg first became involved in the instruction of outdoor activities in 1998 with 3D Education, before moving around Europe, instructing with Center Parcs. Greg has a strong interest in mountain biking.
Lynne. Office Manager
Lynne is the Office Manager at Woodlands Adventure. She has been here for since 2010 and is involved in every aspect of the business.
Previously working in the retail and motor trade sectors. Lynne has considerable knowledge and experience of business administration gained over the past 35 years and holds a diploma in Leadership and Management.
Key. Senior Instructor
Key has undertaken youth work since 1992. He has been a Duke of Edinburgh Award. Assessor for bronze and silver and has a Basic Expedition Leader Award. He has also worked as a special needs youth officer.
Key started working at Woodlands Adventure on a work placement in 1999, achieving an NVQ in outdoor activities. He is currently head of paddle sports with a level 3 in canoeing.
Key has paddled in the UK, France, USA and India. He has also climbed in France, Spain and Italy and has a Climbing Wall Award with an Abseil module, from the British Mountaineering Council He is currently working towards a Single Pitch Award and a Mountain Leader Award.
Peter. Senior Instructor
Peter’s journey in the outdoors, began with paddling when he was nine years old and he has since grown to and love all aspects of the outdoor industry.
During his career, Peter has been fortunate enough to work all over France and Britain, in various coaching and instructing roles.
Peter’s 18 years as an activities instructor has recently lead to him specialising in outdoor activities with SEN groups, which he looks forward to continuing whilst working at Woodlands Adventure and Outdoor Learning in his senior instructor role.
Stacey. Activity Instructor
Stacey has been involved in the outdoor industry as a seasonal instructor since 2014, alongside roles in the care sector. Stacey became a full time activity instructor in 2021 and is now currently working towards gaining her paddle sports instructor qualification.
Josh. Activity Instructor
Josh has been instructing and working in the outdoor industry for nearly two years.
Before working in this industry, he had a job at kfc which resulted in him eating too much chicken.
Josh’s main interest is cycling, but he also enjoys other adventurous activities such as kayaking, climbing, canoeing and endurance events.
Alice. Activity Instructor
Alice has worked in the outdoor industry since 2017, working at various centres across the UK. Alice completed her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and was selected out of 1000 people to attend the Diamond anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh Award at Buckingham Palace, where she met Princess Sophie and Levi Roots. Alice was also one of the first females to attend the brand new British Canoeing introduction to White Water Safety course. Alice has a strong interest in canoeing, cycling and arts and crafts.
Patrick. Activity Instructor
Patrick has worked in the outdoor industry since 2018, working at various centres across the UK. Most recently working for a centre specialising in working with disadvantaged young people from alternative provision schools and care homes. He holds various outdoor qualifications and is currently working towards his Rock-Climbing Instructor Award and British Canoeing Coach award.
Mark. Activity Instructor
Mark is a multi activities instructor and he has worked in the outdoor activities industry since 2010. Mark’s favourite activity is zip lining and he is looking forward to this years season and to the new activities Woodlands Adventure & Outdoor Learning are offering customers.
Jim. Activity Instructor
Jim moved into the industry following a successful 15-year career in advertising and marketing. His dedication now lies in fostering a love for outdoor activities among children and young people. By leading various on-site activities, Jim introduces individuals to the countryside and outdoor pursuits, aiming to excite and inspire them. His passion for the outdoors is evident through volunteering for forestry charities and his interests in cross-country running and wild camping.
Amy. Office Assistant
Amy has worked in the outdoor industry since 2018 and holds various outdoor qualifications. Amy’s interests are paddling and caving and she enjoys climbing in Spain and Greece. Amy works closely with Lynne our Office Manager dealing with the administration and programming the activities.
Sue & Karen. Housekeeping
You may see members of our wonderful housekeeping team in the residential buildings during your stay. Karen has worked at Woodlands Adventure for over 10 years and Sue joined the team just over 7 year’s ago.
